Modern and stylish wool clogs

Get ready for the ultimate self-pampering with wool clogs from glerups. Our footwear is made with a passion for your comfort and well being, and you will soon discover how much better the right pair of leisure footwear can make you feel.

Clogs versus slippers

Some people might associate the word clogs with the popular plastic slippers with a strap, but the word can also be used when describing a felt slipper with a closed front part and a solid sole.

glerups felt clogs are seamlessly felted, giving them a unique feeling of comfort. The way the clogs grip your feet and help you with a sturdy sole, not only your feet benefit from wearing these – it can also help improve your posture and in some cases help prevent back pain.

No matter which type of footwear from glerups you choose, you will feel an immense sense of comfort and ease.

Stylish wool clogs with many benefits

Footwear is normally a thing we categorize as an accessory, a fashion choice or simply the things we put on our feet to feel comfortable. But with glerups wool clogs, you are not only keeping your feet warm and cozy, you are also aiding your body in many different ways. First of all, keeping your feet warm, especially during winter, is an extremely important part of keeping the rest of your body healthy. You are more susceptible to seasonal ailments, if your feet are constantly cold, as it can affect your immune system over time.

Secondly, the sturdiness of the sole gives you many benefits as well. It can help those with balance issues, because you feel a better connection with the underlying surface, giving you a better sense of balance. Other leisure footwear often have soles made from cork, which makes it hard for the feet to wear them for a long time.

Our soles are made from natural leather, which results in a better bounce and a prolonged sense of comfort, when wearing them. These shoes will provide your arch support as they are designed in a way that allows your arch to relax better, even when moving about. The supportive soles also help your posture in general, which means that things like lower back pain, headaches from bad posture or restless legs are significantly decreased, because your entire body is carried in a more healthy way. This will also take some of the pressure off your heel, making the general health of your foot and the bones inside it feel much better.

Comfort and quality in every single step

These clogs won’t squeeze your toes, as the design of the clogs follow the natural curve of the foot, only adding to the overall comfort they provide. This doesn’t mean that they are too loose to stay put on your feet, as the clogs take shape after your feet, meaning that they will give your foot the perfect mix of comfort and support. This makes them practical to wear, if you have a job that requires you to be on your feet for a long time each day, but also just for wearing when relaxing around the house.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning that the wool itself has a unique way of absorbing excess heat and moisture, making sure that your feet are always at a comfortable temperature, even on a warm summer day – no more sweaty feet or bad odour. The molecular structure of the wool is in close resemblance with that of human skin. This means that even if worn on bare feet and for an extended period of time, you will not experience irritation or rashes from this footwear, only great comfort.

Danish design at its’ finest

The Danes take pride in their long lasting design tradition. It basically means making things out of easy accessible materials that are endurable and with nature as one of the main sources of inspiration. It is said that when it comes to Danish design philosophy, there are three criteria that must be met – the product must be simple, functional and elegant. In our book, glerups are just those things.

The simplicity is found in the seamless design of the clogs, without any extra accessories. They are functional in the way they can be used all year round due to the properties of the wool blend, which ensures that your feet are never too cold or too warm, not to mention the fact that the simplicity of the design makes them wearable at almost any occasion. Their elegance is found in the design and the neutral colours, which are inspired by Nordic nature and makes them fit easily into any style or wardrobe.

Nanny and Ove – a modern fairytale

Some of the most known fairytales originate from Denmark. A lesser known story, the story of glerups, almost feels like something a writer would have come up with, but nonetheless, it is the truth. You see, over 30 years ago, a woman named Nanny in the Northern region of Denmark, went on a course in making things out of felted wool. She quickly got the hang of it and decided that her first project would be something for her husband, something he could use often and that would remind him of her.

She decided to make a pair of felted boot slippers, so he could wear them when relaxing at home. Her husband, Ove, was so touched and excited about his gift that he was seen wearing them everywhere he went. Family, friends and neighbours noticed this special kind of footwear and Ove praised their comfort to anyone who would listen.

Soon, people started asking Nanny to make them a pair of slippers too and as Nanny was enjoying the expansion of what was supposed to be just a hobby, she started going to fairs and other gatherings of people who had a gift of making things by hand. As the footwear got more and more popular, Nanny started receiving orders from all over the country.

But when a shoeshop in Sweden ordered 200 pairs of boots for kids, Nanny made a decision. She had to recline this order, as she was making approximately two pairs of slippers a day and it would take much too long to do it on her own. But she promised herself that this would be the last time she would be forced to recline an order.

She made glerups a trademark and started expanding, gathering people who could help with production and marketing, and then things really started happening. With great care, strength and tenacity, things really started taking off.
